Thanks again to everybody including;
1. ILAS Airfield Team
A big thank you also to our neighbours from the area surrounding the Airfield, including land owner Mrs Von White, all of whom are very supportive, which in turn creates a nice community feeling for all to enjoy.

BA Swallow EI-AFF has been sold and it has departed for its new home in the UK yesterday. We wish her new owner the best of luck with her and we hope to see her in the air again very shortly. I have also included a photo of EI-AFF at the last breakfast fly-in.
We are very pleased to make two announcements as follows:
ILAS Short listed for Aviation Industry Awards 2014
Firstly, to let you know that ILAS has been short-listed in the General and Sport Aviation category of the inaugural Aviation Industry Awards. The purpose of the awards is to celebrate excellence within the aviation industry and its significant contribution to the country’s economy. The IAA is providing sponsorship for this All-Island of Ireland event and the presentation of awards to the winners in the eighteen categories will be made by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr Leo Varadkar, TD, at a function in Dublin on the 10th June.
ILAS as Guest of Honour Federation at Euro Fly-In 2014 Vichy
We are also delighted to inform you that the Federation RSA has invited ILAS to attend as Guest of Honour Federation at their annual Fly-In at Vichy on the 18th- 20th July. This invitation is extended to Federations which are member of EFLEVA and was introduced in 2012 when the LAA was honoured, followed last year by the Swiss EAS, so as a growing but relatively recently-founded organisation we are privileged to be recognised in this manner.
Accordingly, the ILAS Committee is happy to support and help coordinate any members who wish to participate in a ‘Fly-Out’ to Vichy, and would welcome as many members as possible making an effort to visit Vichy this year, including by airline or surface transport. ILAS is expected to say a few words at the prize giving and present the Federation RSA EFLEVA award to the winner in that category. The Irish flag will be given prominence and a dedicated display with photos of ILAS aircraft, projects and events will feature in the ‘pilot welcome tent’. Complimentary tickets to the Sunday night BBQ will be given to all visitors presenting ILAS membership ID (contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you don’t have yours yet). Recognition of ILAS flight permits by France is being urgently progressed in respect of classic & vintage aircraft in anticipation of this event. The event website is at http://euroflyin.rsafrance.com/
Noel Maher, Chairman, 2nd June 2014.
Weather was perfect with light Southerly wind on the runway, but just as the last aircraft departed the weather closed in with sea fog rolling in which lingered right through Monday, so timing was just perfect.
Attached a selection of photos taken on the day.
Well done to Padraig Forde on the first flight of his Osprey amphibian EI-EEU recently, and also on its first water trials flight which happened last weekend. By all accounts it is a great performing aircraft and we look forward to seeing it in the skies around Ireland in the near future.
The Irish Light Aviation Society (ILAS) is a voluntary not-for-profit organisation, operated by the members for the members. ILAS does not have any employees and is not a corporate entity.
The business of the Society is conducted by a Committee of officers and Committee members elected from the membership of the Society at a General Meeting of the Society to act on behalf of the membership for the period of election. No member of the Committee receives remuneration for their role in the Society.
The Objectives of the Society are:
• The promotion of amateur aircraft construction in Ireland.
• The support, preservation, and operation of vintage and classic aircraft in Ireland
• The support and promotion of the sport of aerobatics amongst the Members.
• To provide support to all ILAS administered aircraft through the operation of the Flight Permit system as authorised and amended by the Irish Aviation Authority.
• To provide leadership in the achievement of low cost flying through co-operation and partnership with like-minded bodies, and appropriate representation at all levels.
• To promote safety in all aspects of the Society’s activities.
• To promote the growth of the Society, and to provide opportunities for Members to experience aviation.
