Mid-Summer Fly-in

  • ILAS Field (EIIF)

The showers have now cleared away at ILAS Field and it should dry out overnight. Last-minute preparations are being taken care of after a very busy day for Aidan, Charles O'Shea, John Todd and other 'hands' at the field. The silage was removed yesterday, the Control tower has been repositioned, the portacabin refurbished, and new windsocks installed. New male and female toilets were installed just today and will be available for testing tomorrow :-)

I've been asked to mention that we are 'thin on the ground' with support for marshaling and parking for both days, so if any members can get down early and give a hand for at least a while with these and other safety tasks, that would be greatly appreciated. (Who doesn't like an opportunity to wear a yellow vest?)

Saturday: Start approximately 12:00 and wrapping up approximately 6pm; note that overnight camping is permitted, and there are also local B&B’s if 'creature comforts' are more desired.

Sunday: Breakfast from 11am onwards – supplied by a professional catering service at a cost to ILAS of €13 per person; voluntary contributions approximately covering that are very welcome.

Note that there are a number of active Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs) over the weekend, including one over Abbeyleix on Sunday 23rd that might be on pilots' route down or back, so please make sure to check the latest Pilot Information Bulletin.

I'll mention again that arrival permission is strictly PPR to Aidan Power before departure. Find him on 087 6765207 and airfield@ilas.ie
